The Art Gallery of Ontario is celebrating its massive transition by opening up its doors for free all weekend before closing them until 2008.

The AGO is expecting longer than usual line-ups for their last weekend. A statement on their website says they are closing down to reinstall more than 5,000 pieces of art in 110 galleries.

"We haven't set the reopening date yet but are aiming for mid-2008," says the release.

The art gallery will open at 10 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday and will close at 5:30 p.m. on both days.

To accommodate dedicated art aficionados, the AGO is keeping their art lessons at a temporary location and will continue to hold their March Break camp and other youth programs.

The gallery is also showcasing their permanent collection online in an interactive website what allows viewers to check out art but also curate their own exhibits.
