Hamilton police say a fourth person is wanted in a brazen prisoner escape which has already resulted in the arrests of three other men.

Police are now looking for Aram Hadi, 20, who they say could be armed and dangerous.

Earlier this week, police alleged that two armed and masked men ambushed jail guards as they were escorting Fawad Ahmed Nouri from hospital.

Nouri was later arrested in Hamilton, and two of his alleged accomplices were also taken into police custody on Friday.

However, on Saturday afternoon, police issued a warrant for a third alleged accomplice. Officers have yet to outline which roles the different men may have played in the incident.

Meanwhile, Nouri appeared before a judge via video link on Saturday to face charges of escaping custody.

Nouri had been facing armed robbery and forcible confinement charges and was in hospital being treated for a bullet wound.
