A former Milton daycare worker previously charged in connection with a child pornography investigation is now facing additional charges, Peel police said Thursday.
The man, who previously worked at the Milton Community Resource Centre, appeared in a Brampton courtroom late last month following his arrest on April 26 on one count of possessing child pornography and one count of accessing child pornography.
His arrest stemmed from a province-wide investigation involving members of the Peel Regional Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit launched earlier in the month.
In a release issued Thursday night, police said that the suspect had been re-arrested for a number of additional offences following further investigation.
The charges include eight counts of sexual assault, eight counts of sexual interference, and eight counts of making child pornography.
Investigators with both Peel and Halton police are currently “working closely” with the Victim Services Unit and the Halton Children’s Aid Society “to provide services to the families of the identified victims,” police said in Thursday’s release.
“The victims were all in attendance at a preschool daycare facility when the incidents took place.”
Steven Campbell, 37, of Brampton, is scheduled to appear in court in Brampton Friday.
