The former girlfriend of one of the men accused of killing Ancaster father Tim Bosma told a courtroom today that she begged her boyfriend not to hang around with his co-accused.

Marlena Meneses said she told her boyfriend, Mark Smich, that she thought Dellen Millard was a bad influence and that she felt uneasy around him.

She told the court that Millard “gave her the creeps,” that he would stare at her up and down and make disrespectful comments that were sexual in nature.

In cross-examining Meneses, Smich’s lawyer painted a picture of a man who was in over his head.

He also tried to show that Smich was not an abusive boyfriend.

He asked Meneses whether Smich had any influence on her to “twist things around.”

“No he didn’t,” she replied.

Meneses said that Smich told her that Millard killed Bosma and incinerated his body and that Smich was just there to steal a truck. She said that’s what she told police.

Meneses’ concluded her three days on the stand today and then left the courthouse covering her face.

Bosma disappeared in May 2013 after taking two men on a test drive in the pickup truck he was selling on Kijiji.

Millard and Smich are on trial charged with first degree murder. They have pleaded not guilty.

The court is expected to hear from Millard’s ex-girlfriend tomorrow.
