A former employee with a non-profit organization is facing charges after a man reported he was sexually assaulted in Richmond Hill.
Police said they began an investigation on Oct. 19 after a man came forward and told them that he had been sexually assaulted by an employee of the John Howard Society after a counselling session.
Investigators allege the incident occurred in Richmond Hill on the same day it was reported to them.
An arrest was made in connection with the case on Nov. 1.
A suspect identified as 36-year-old Ajax resident Shane Joseph has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, one count of assault and one count of forcible confinement.
He is scheduled to make an appearance in a Newmarket court on Dec. 7.
