Winter will loosen its icy grip on the city of Toronto today, prompting officials to lift an extreme cold weather alert.
City officials say they will end Toronto’s latest extreme cold weather alert at noon.
Friday’s biting cold is expected to give way to warmer temperatures through the weekend, before easing into above-freezing territory on Monday.
Forecasters predict Wednesday temperatures will reach a high of 6 C.
Temperatures are expected to dip back below freezing by the end of next week, but the cold won’t be near the record-setting lows the city experienced through much of February.
