The friends and family of Shane Fair are still looking for the York University student who went missing after attending his year-end formal two weeks ago.

The 19-year-old, first-year university student attended the Calumet Formal, held at Ontario Place's Atlantis Pavilion on May 15.

He was supposed to catch a bus home from the year-end party, but he missed it.

He was last seen in the early hours of Saturday, May 16, in the Lake Shore Boulevard and British Columbia Road area.

On Friday afternoon, the people closest to him fanned out across the Portlands and the Leslie Street Spit in hopes of finding him.

Fair's mother, Lisa Malo, believes it's a part of the city where her son might have headed after leaving his formal.

"This is an area he's familiar with," she said.

On Friday, Malo said the continued search for her son is not getting any easier.

"It's getting a little tough, so, thanks everybody for being here again, and let's go find him," Malo told those gathered at the search on Friday.

The missing man's father said he is holding out hope that his son is still alive.

"At this point, I just hope that he's still out there," Brian Fair said Friday afternoon.

Police have now ended their ground search, though more than 7,000 members of the public have joined a group on Facebook dedicated to finding Fair.

Fair, who is a reserve soldier with the Canadian Armed Forces, is described as being white, about 5'11", 170 lbs., with brown hair and a short Mohawk. He was wearing a blue suit with a blue shirt and blue tie when he went missing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-3100, or to call Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
