Police are looking for witnesses after a man was sent to hospital following an overnight crash involving a snowplow in Richmond Hill.

York Regional Police say the driver of a white hatchback crashed into the snowplough head-on shortly after 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning near Bayview Avenue and North Lake Road, south of Bloomington Road.

The driver of the hatchback was taken to the hospital where police say his condition deteriorated. He was transferred to a trauma centre where he remains in serious condition, they said.

Police say the snowplow driver remained at the scene and was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
