Former Vaughan mayor Michael Di Biase was in a Newmarket courtroom on Thursday challenging last fall's election result that saw him lose by a mere 90 votes.

Di Biase is fighting to get another election, claiming there were problems with three polling stations on Nov. 13.

Six lawyers representing the city, Di Biase and current Mayor Linda Jackson are presenting their arguments.

The legal action has cost Vaughan taxpayers $115,000.

Di Biase convinced council to hold a re-count following his loss, but the final tally showed he lost by 94 votes, four more than on election night. That recount alone cost the city $33,000.

Jackson, former daughter of the late mayor Lorna Jackson, said the ordeal has cost her $7,000 in legal fees.

Di Biase attended court with his wife at his side on Thursday. He did not comment to the media.

The campaign between Jackson and Di Biase was a bitter one, with accusations of computer hacking, bullying, hijacked websites and sign slashing.
