MOUNT FOREST, Ont. - Provincial police say a teen riding a bike escaped with minor injuries after being hit by a snowmobile near Mount Forest, in southwestern Ontario.

Police say it was snowing heavily when a 16-year-old boy riding a bike on Highway 89 was hit from behind by a snowmobile just before midnight Sunday.

Investigators say a 16-year-old boy on the snowmobile did not see the bike and tried to avoid the collision just east of Mount Forest, about 65 kilometres north of Kitchener.

The cyclist was treated at hospital for minor injuries.

The boy riding the snowmobile will not face charges for the collision.

But police say he faces charges under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act, including driving without a licence or insurance.
