A 13-year-old boy has drowned after falling out of a motor boat on the Trent River on Saturday evening -- the fourth drowning incident in less than a week.

One of the boy's family members was driving the boat about 1.5 kilometres south of Campbellford, Ont. when the boat hit a large wake from another motorboat, police said.

The boy, who was not wearing a life jacket but was considered a strong swimmer, fell overboard and could not be located despite a frantic search by those who had been on board with him.

The Ontario Provincial Police were contacted around 6:15 p.m. and continue to search for the boy's body.
