Through the summer months, Toronto plays host to a range of festivals that celebrate the city’s diversity and showcase local talent.

Not a bad way to spend a summer evening or weekend if you can catch one of these events. Here’s what is coming up in July:

Red White and Vinyl

  • Showcases diversity in artistic expression throughout South and Central America
  • Dance workshops in salsa and cha-cha and musical artists

Summerlicious

  • Various location
  • Price range: Lunch menus: $15 - $25, Dinner menus: $25 - $45
  • 150 of Toronto’s top restaurants offer the opportunity to sample a wide variety of cuisine through price-fixed menus

Cultura Festival

  • Date: July 5 – 26, 2013
  • Location: Mel Lastman Square

  • Takes place on all four Friday nights of July
  • Community showcase of acclaimed local, international artists and performers

Taste of Lawrence

  • Date: July 5 – 7, 2013
  • Location: Wexford Heights Business Improvement
  • Price: Free
  • International food and culture festival
  • Celebrating the cultural diversity of the Wexford Heights community

153rd Anniversary of the Queen’s Plate

  • Date: July 7, 2013
  • Location: Woodbine & Mohawk Racetracks
  • Price range: $12 - $50
  • The race is the first jewel in Canada’s Triple Crown of Thoroughberd Racing
  • The purse is $1,000,000 in this race

Night It Up!

  • Date: July 12-14
  • Location: Markham Civic Centre

  • Outdoor night market like those in Taiwan, Hong Kong and all over Asia’s major citiess
  • Food and merchandise from 100 vendors

Salsa on St. Clair

  • Date: July 13 – 14, 2013

  • Two day street festival celebrating the world of salsa dancing

Caribana: Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival

Tirgan Festival 2013

Beaches International Jazz Festival

Big on Bloor Festival

  • Location: Bloordale Village
  • Car-free Bloordale celebrates arts, culture and community
  • Bloordale market with more than 200 tables with arts and crafts, showcase neighbourhood’s musicians and dancers

Toronto’s Festival of Beer

  • Date: July 26 – 28, 2013
  • Location: Exhibition Place (Bandshell Park)

Edgefest 2013
