Woman killed by flying debris from signboard

A woman is dead after being struck by a piece of debris that came down from a signboard near Keele Street and St. Clair Avenue Monday evening.

The incident happened around 7:10 p.m. Toronto EMS said the woman was hit in the head by a piece of debris that came off a sign outside a Staples Depot.

EMS arrived on scene and tried to resuscitate the woman, but their efforts were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sign itself remained mostly intact, though it was reported to still be swaying in strong winds.
