The City of Toronto is opening 15 outdoor rinks this weekend, marking the unofficial start to the winter sports season.
As of early Saturday afternoon, skaters were already gliding around under the arches of Nathan Phillips Square, in front of City Hall.
The following rinks were also scheduled to open on Saturday:
1. Cedarvale Park
2. Colonel Sam Smith Park
3. Dufferin Grove Park
4. Greenwood Park
5. Kew Gardens
6. Ramsden Park
7. Regent Park
8. Rennie Park
9. Scarborough Civic Centre
10. Sunnydale Acres Rink
11. West Mall Rink
The following rinks are expected open Sunday:
1. Broadlands Community Centre
2. Glen Long Community Centre
3. Irving W Chapley Community Centre
The rinks opening this weekend will operate until Sunday, March 22.
The city's 35 other outdoor rinks will open next Saturday, and will stay open until Sunday, Feb. 22.
