A suspect has been charged after a man’s body was found near Sheppard Avenue and Jane Street two years ago.

Police said they found a man’s body beside a building at 2000 Sheppard Avenue West on the night of May 29, 2010.

The man was identified as Egbert Boothe, 43.

Police said an autopsy later determined that Boothe died of “multiple blunt force injuries consistent with a descent from a great height.”

Police alleged that Boothe was chased out onto his balcony by two armed men who forced their way into the apartment.

Richard Robert Smith, 27, of no fixed address was arrested as a result of an ongoing investigation on Thursday.

Smith was charged with manslaughter, two counts of robbery while armed with a firearm, break and enter, disguise with intent and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

He is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
