A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with a break-and-enter investigation in Toronto.

Police said they were called to the area of Oriole Parkway and Lonsdale Road, near St. Clair Avenue and Yonge Street, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officers were told that a 51-year-old woman returned home to find an unknown man inside the house. It was reported that the man was wearing only boxer shorts and a shirt. He ran away when he was confronted, police said.

When officers examined the home, they found that someone had tampered with a number of items.

The family dog had been let out of its crate and its collar had been removed, police said in a statement on Thursday.

They found that all framed photos of adults had been turned face down, but photos of the children that live in the house were left standing.

Police said cigarette butts were found in the children's bedrooms, and there were impressions where it appeared someone had sat on the children’s beds.

On Thursday morning, police said 36-year-old Thura Htut had been arrested in connection with the case.

He has been charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with more information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5300 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
