Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has announced two new additions to his campaign team: Ben Johnson, famous for doping at the 1988 Olympics, and former “Trailer Park Boys” actor Sam Tarasco.

"I’m excited to have them on my campaign team," Ford said outside of his city hall office.

Coun. Doug Ford later clarified that Johnson "doesn't have an official role" in the campaign other than supporting his brother.

Earlier, Ford wasn't specific on what Johnson and Tarasco would do but told reporters the pair will attend a few events.

"They want to come out to events and get votes. At the end of the day, that's what this election is about," Ford said.

He also said he supports Johnson "100 per cent" when reporters asked him about the sprinter's own scandal involving steroid use during the 1988 Olympics.

Johnson was stripped of his gold medal after he tested positive for a banned substance.

Meanwhile, Tarasco, part of the well-known Canadian comedy series “Trailer Park Boys,” told reporters he's always supported the mayor.

"I'm an Etobicoke boy. I've always supported Mayor Ford," Tarasco said.

Ford went back into his office after he said reporters were getting "personal" with their questions about Johnson's doping scandal.
