Residents in two Toronto neighbourhoods are on alert following separate incidents of sexual assault.

The first incident took place near the area of Avenue and Lawrence Roads on Monday morning.

According to police, two women were sexually assaulted in their Woburn Avenue home, after a man knocked on their door claiming he was selling newspaper subscriptions.

The man, who officers say was armed with a knife, forced himself into the home and proceeded to assault the 30- and 25-year-old victims. One of the victims was taken to hospital.

On Tuesday, police released more photos of the suspect wanted in connection with the sexual assault.

The latest photos, released Tuesday afternoon, show the male suspect on a TTC bus, minutes after he allegedly attacked the victims.

He is white with dark hair and is wearing a black jacket, black pants, blue T-shirt and is carrying a black bag.

He is described as white, between 5’10” to 6’0” tall, with a medium build, dark hair and clean-shaven face.

Earlier Tuesday, officers posted video footage of the suspect to YouTube. They are asking the public to review the footage and to contact them if they have any information about the case.

Neighbour Debra, whose security camera caught the suspect approaching the house, said she was shocked when she heard of the news. She said she later drove by the suspect after he allegedly attacked the women.

“I was really, really stunned,” she said. “He looked like one of the husbands on the street. He had dark clothing and he looked well dressed and he was walking. He wasn’t running, he wasn’t showing any concern or fear or even running away from the house. He wasn’t running.”

Teen attacked near Broadview Station

In a separate incident, investigators are also looking for another suspect wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a teen near the area of Broadview and Mortimer Avenues.

The attack occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Monday night, when a 16-year-old girl walking in the area was approached by a man asking for a light.

Police say when he neared the teenager, the man pulled her into a laneway off of Chester Hill Road and sexually assaulted her at knife-point, said Const. Wendy Drummond.

The suspect, described as an approximately 6' to 6'1" tall, 40-year-old, white male, was last seen fleeing the scene of the east-end assault southbound on Broadview.

Residents of the area told CTV Toronto they’re taking extra precautions in light of the attack.

Natha showed off a can of pepper spray she bought and will now carry with her as she walks around the neighbourhood.

“It said ‘dog defence,’ but it’s a pepper spray,” she said as she spritzed it in the air. “It’s for dogs, but I’m sure it’s going to hurt people too.”

Another female resident said the attack had changed her dinner plans.

“I had dinner plans tonight and I would normally just walk,” she said. “It’s such a nice, walkable neighbourhood. But I definitely will either drive or make sure somebody walks with me.”
