TORONTO - The Ontario Public Service Employees Union has released details of the tentative three-year contract it reached with the Liberal government.

OPSEU reached a deal with the province for 35,000 civil servants earlier this week.

The government had called the agreement a "net zero" deal, meaning it fell within the Liberals' framework for not funding pay increases.

The Liberals have said they will not fund salary increases for anyone in the public sector until they eliminate a deficit of $10.3 billion, which they plan to do by 2017-18.

OPSEU says the deal includes no wage increase for 2015 but a 1.4 per cent lump sum in 2016, and a 1.4 per cent increase in 2017.

The union said progressing through the wage grid was frozen for 2016-17.

OPSEU also says the deal requires the province to work with the union before the government privatizes or divests itself of services it delivers.

The last contract with OPSEU expired at the end of December.

The government is still at the bargaining table with the union representing workers in correctional institutions.
