New accusations have been made against a Brampton high school teacher previously charged for allegedly maintaining a relationship with a teen student.

Peel Regional Police had previously accused the teacher of having a consensual relationship with a 17-year-old student while working at Turner Fenton Secondary School sometime between 2004 and 2017.

He was charged with sexual exploitation in that case.

In a news release issued Tuesday, police say a former student of Bramalea Secondary School contacted them on June 22 – shortly after the Turner Fenton charges were made public through the media –with new allegations of sexual assault involving the teacher.

The suspect now faces a charge of sexual assault and sexual exploitation.

The teacher has been cited before by the Ontario College of Teachers.

According to the Ontario College of Teachers, the suspect was charged in 1992 and again in 2000 for inappropriate relationships involving students at Meadowvale Secondary School and Bramalea Secondary School, respectively.

In both cases, he was found not guilty.

He was found guilty of professional misconduct for two months in 2003 following a disciplinary hearing with the Ontario College of Teachers.

A suspect identified as 53-year-old Milton resident Richard Knill was arrested Monday.

Investigators say Knill worked at Meadowville from 1991 to 1993, Bramalea from 1993 to 2002, Chinguacousy Secondary School from 2002 to 2004 and Turner Fenton from 2004 to 2017.

The Peel District School Board previously would not comment on how the teacher’s employment at the school had been affected by the allegations but said that typically, a teacher would be suspended until after the investigation is complete.
