CLARINGTON, Ont. - A 40-year-old Newcastle man is in hospital with serious injuries following a single-vehicle crash in Clarington.

Durham regional police say the accident occurred early today on Highway 2 near the Darlington-Clarington Townline Road.

Witnesses told police the eastbound car was seen drifting into the westbound lane and gravel shoulder when it suddenly veered across both lanes into the ditch.

The car rolled over, ejecting the driver from the vehicle.

The driver was first transported to a local hospital by ambulance, then moved to a Toronto-area hospital.

Investigators say road and weather conditions were favourable at the time of the collision, but have determined that alcohol was not a factor.
