Three southern Ontario GO Transit lines experienced significant delays through the morning on Thursday after a computer malfunction knocked out a block of signal switches.

A GO Transit said that a CN Rail computer malfunction caused signal problems along the Lakeshore West, Kitchener and Milton rail lines. Without the signals, trains were forced to wait for radio confirmation before proceeding.

By about 9 a.m. the malfunction had been repaired but trains continued to face delays as service returned to its normal levels.

Trains were delayed by as much as 60 minutes at its peak.
