Environment Canada has issued a heat warning in advance of soaring temperatures and humid weather slated for the GTA over the next few days.

A high of 33 is expected in Toronto on Thursday and it could feel even hotter with the humidity. The scorching temperatures are expected to last through to Sunday with a 30 per cent chance of showers on Friday.

During a heat warning, Environment Canada advises the public to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids and to check on friends and family who may be vulnerable to the hot weather, such as the elderly or those with respiratory issues.

The agency is also reminding people to never leave children or pets inside hot vehicles.

Temperatures will return to a slightly more comfortable 28 C on Tuesday.

You can also keep cool by visting some of the city's 57 outdoor pools.
