Toronto police are hailing a father and daughter as heroes after they rescued a male who fell onto the tracks at a subway station.

The incident occurred at Yorkdale Station on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

According to police, a male was waiting for a southbound train when he suffered a medical problem, causing him to fall onto the tracks and strike his head.

That’s when the father and his daughter jumped down onto the tracks and rescued the injured male from track level.

Once the male was lifted back onto the platform, bystanders performed first aid until firefighters and paramedics arrived, police said in a news release Sunday.

The male was transported to hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police said the father and daughter saved the male’s life.

“The Toronto police would like to applaud these members of the public for their heroism in acting, without regard to their safety, to rescue this stranger from what would have been a fatal fall,” police said in a news release.
