Police are looking for a suspect after an officer was hit by a vehicle side mirror on Saturday morning while a child was inside the car

An officer was working in the area of Mt. Pleasant Road and Moore Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle's side mirror, police said in a statement Monday.

The officer, who has not been identified, was tagging vehicles on Moore Avenue when she was told to leave the neighbourhood. Police said she was told that parking enforcement officers' presence was not liked in the area.

Shortly after the comment, a man drove a vehicle close to the officer, hitting her elbow with the car's side mirror. The officer received minor injuries.

The officer saw a child in the car as it drove southbound on Cliffton Road. The child was between 10 and 12 years old.

Police are looking for the male driver, who is described as white and 5-foot-9 or 5-foot-10. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt and jogging pants at the time of the incident. The vehicle is described as a black four-door Acura MDX or RDX, with a partial Ontario licence plate of "BAXS."
