A 44-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was assaulted behind a Brampton school overnight.

Police in Peel Region say the alleged assault occurred behind Pauline Vanier Catholic School, on Oaklea Boulevard near McLaughlin Road, in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

The victim was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital and initially considered to be in life-threatening condition, but he’s since improved. Police now say he’s in serious but stable condition.

Two men were arrested in connection with the assault near the scene shortly after police arrived.

Police say both were charged with aggravated assault.

The incident has no relation to the school or its students, they added.
