Police are asking for the public's help after a watch worth $26,000 was stolen at a downtown Toronto hotel.

Officers said the watch was reported stolen shortly before noon on Friday, July 17, from the Eaton Chelsea Hotel. The hotel is located at 33 Gerrard St. W., just west of Yonge Street.

It was reported at a 46-year-old man went to the swimming pool area on the 27th floor, at approximately 11:30 a.m. He placed his belongings in the change-room locker, and went to the pool.

The man said that he was gone between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. When he returned to the changing room, his $26,000 Rolex Sea-Dweller watch was missing.

"If anyone knows of any person who has recently and inexplicably come into possession of the same type of watch, they are asked to contact the police," investigators said in a statement on Tuesday.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact officers at 416-808-5200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
