York Regional Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man believed to have stolen a garbage bag full of chewing gum worth $1,528.
Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect, nicknamed the ‘Fresh Breath Bandit’ after a bizarre theft at a Markham drugstore late last year.
Last month, authorities released photos and video that showed a man believed to be connected to a robbery on Dec. 17, 2015, at a Shoppers Drug Mart in the area of Highway 7 and Kennedy Road.
In the surveillance video, a man can be seen walking down several aisles, before stopping in front of a rack of candy.
The video shows the man loading chewing gum into a garbage bag, before walking out again. He is believed to have departed in a taxi that was waiting for him.
The suspect has been identified as Lester Hosein, 46, of no fixed address.
