Toronto police believe two murder suspects wanted in connection with the death of a Vaughan man may be hitchhiking.
Clyde Marshall, 36, and Sabrina Chouart, 27, are both wanted for first-degree murder in connection with the death of Sina Parsi.
The 32-year-old roofing contractor disappeared after attending a soccer game on June 9. Police found his body three days later in an eighth-floor apartment unit, located in the area of Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue West.
Police said both Marshall and Chouart lived in that unit for approximately two years.
Police also released security surveillance video Monday that shows both suspects leaving the apartment at approximately 4 a.m. on June 10 -- hours after Parsi was last seen. Police said Parsi was inside the unit at the time the footage was captured, but wouldn’t say if he was alive at the time.
"This video surveillance captures two offenders who are depicted as they walk the hallway of that building," Det. Shawn Mahoney told reporters.
Mahoney said the suspects are likely wearing the same clothing they are seen wearing in the video. Chouart is wearing a blue hoodie with dark-coloured pants and a backpack. Marshall is seen wearing jeans, a dark-coloured hoodie and a backpack.
The pair is also seen with a large dog, which was abandoned and brought to animal services.
Mahoney said investigators do not believe the suspects intend to return to their apartment building.
"They have on backpacks that lead us to believe they are not returning to that address," he said.
Last week, police traced Parsi's cellphone signal to a strip mall parking lot in the area of Jane Street and Eglinton Avenue West. Police found his pick-up truck parked in the lot and his wallet in a nearby wooded area.
Parsi's family previously said police told them security surveillance camera footage taken from a Tim Hortons restaurant at the mall show the 32-year-old walking toward the wooded area. Another security camera also shows Parsi entering a bank just prior to that.
Police have not said how Parsi ended up at the apartment where he was found dead. They have also not revealed his relationship with the suspects.
Mahoney said there have been multiple sightings of Marshall and Chourt in northern and eastern Ontario, but those sightings have not yet been verified by police. He warned that if they are spotted, people should not approach them.
"You have to be cautious around these individuals," Mahoney said. "We don't want people approaching them or engaging them in any way."
Marshall is described as a white male, 6'0" tall and weighs 145 lbs. He has brown hair, blue eyes and a thin build. He has tattoos on the right side of his neck, as well as a tattoo on his right arm.
Chouart is described as a white female, 5'7" tall and weighs 130 lbs. She has brown, shoulder-length hair and a thin build.
Police previously said they have a motive for the murder, but are not releasing it at this time.
