It appears to be Super Bust, Part III.
Investigators from the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit carried out a series of raids Wednesday morning, the latest aimed at dismantling an alleged illegal gambling ring that police say represents the marriage between the Hells Angels and traditional organized crime.
Two men were arrested and warrants have been issued for three more people, the CFSEU said in a statement.
Police arrested Michael Kriaris, 39, of Toronto, and Augustino Valenzisi, 43, of Vaughan. Both face charges related to engaging in bookmaking and committing an offence to benefit a criminal organization.
Warrants have also been issued for Abraham Diles, 47, Jeffrey Fuchs, 35, and Hiesam Kadri, 41, police said.
“The arrests today are the third phase of the investigation into illegal gaming and Platinum Sportsbook,” Superintendent Keith Finn said in a statement.
One of the search warrants was carried out at a north Toronto bar alleged to be associated to Hells Angels member Bill Miller.
Miller, 49, is the former head of the London chapter of the biker club.
He was one of six men arrested at a Markham Super Bowl party last month. Police allege the party, which took place at Le Parc banquet hall, was organized by Platinum Sports Book and that the banquet hall was being used as a gaming house.
Police say Platinum Sports brought in millions of dollars a week during the NFL’s playoff season, which was then used to line the pockets of organized crime.
Investigators allege Miller and the others arrested Feb. 3 represent the upper echelons of Platinum Sports. Among the others arrested in the raid were London men David Hair, alleged to be the kingpin of Platinum Sports, and Andrew Bielli.
Hair and Bielli were again arrested earlier this month during a series of coordinated raids between Toronto and London in phase two of the investigation. The 18 men arrested at that time were released on bail, including Hair, whose bail was set at a virtually unheard of $1 million.
