A shower of sparks flew off the Bloor Viaduct overnight, causing the TTC to evacuate 75 passengers and temporarily shut down a stretch of Line 2 early Sunday morning.
Police said an electrical short caused the fire around 12:30 a.m.
The incident happened about 30 metres from Broadview station.
TTC passengers were led back to Broadview station on foot, with the help of transit workers, police and firefighters.
Subway service was suspended for about an hour, the TTC said, and shuttle buses ran instead. The stretch re-opened at 2:30 a.m.
Toronto Fire Services are currently investigating the incident, the TTC said.
