They scoped out exits, they peered in open doors, one even ordered a beer at the bar before a trio of bandits allegedly stole an expensive pair of golf clubs from a golf course northeast of Toronto says the victim of an apparently brazen theft.
Police have released photos of three suspects they say stole a set of Taylormade golf clubs worth $1,500 at Maples of Ballantrae Golf Club in the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville on May 23.
The alleged crime shocked the golf course’s food and beverage manager who owned the clubs. He said he’s never seen anything like it in the nine years he’s worked at the club.
“Who has the guts to do this?” Peter Ducros told CTVNews.ca. “Why do this? It’s ridiculous.”
Ducros had been golfing the day the clubs disappeared. Before he left, he stowed his clubs away in an office.
When he came back a few days later, he noticed the clubs were missing and consulted the club’s security footage for answers.
“We’ve never seen them there before,” Ducros said. “I’ve been there nine years and I’ve never seen them once.”
According to police, two suspects stood watch in the clubhouse as a third suspect removed the clubs from an office.
Police have released photos of the suspects. They are described as:
