Peel Regional Police have arrested the husband of a 37-year-old woman who was found dead inside a Brampton home on Monday morning.

Police were called to the home on Sled Dog Road, near Peter Robertson Boulevard and Torbram Road, shortly before 5:30 a.m. after reports of a possible shooting.

Officers discovered a body of a woman, which they later identified as Lakhvir Dhaliwal.

Police said her body showed obvious signs of trauma.

Police said Dhaliwal was a mother of two boys, aged eight and nine, who were home at the time, but were unharmed.

Several police cruisers blocked off a large section of the residential area in the morning, while officers canvassed the neighbourhood and spoke with residents.

Later in the day, police searched nearby garbage bins and then sewers, looking for a possible weapon.

Jatinder Dhaliwal was arrested Monday, police said.

Prior to his arrest, he was involved in a motor vehicle collision at Torbram Road and Peter Robertson Boulevard in Brampton, police said.
