Peel police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a fatal collision, which claimed the life of a 29-year-old man.
The man, identified as Mohammad Haniff of Brampton, Ont., died following a crash in Mississauga on Saturday.
Peel police say the crash happened at Meyerside Drive and Kestrel Road at about 6:30 p.m. The man, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement released Sunday, police said the victim was travelling at "a high rate of speed prior to losing control."
A witness told officers that there was a second vehicle involved, described as a Toyota Camry, "possibly brown in colour."
Police said the suspect vehicle accelerated away from the scene, and made no attempt to assist Haniff.
The driver of the suspect vehicle is described as a male, with a white complexion, a large round face and black hair. The suspect is believed to be between 30 to 35 years of age.
Victim was a "wonderful" person: father
The victim's father, Hazrat Haniff, said at the scene that his son was on his way home from work when the crash happened.
Hazrat Haniff said his son was a “wonderful” person who looked after his younger brother.
“He always care took of his little brother, they were always playing together,” he said.
