Police are speaking to witnesses in the Yonge and Eglinton area who say they heard several gunshots ring out Tuesday afternoon, before a man who was sitting in his vehicle was found dead.
The victim was shot in an alleyway in the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue area.
When emergency crews arrived, they located one male suffering from serious injuries inside a vehicle in a drop off/pickup look on Cowbell Lane. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The vehicle’s front and rear windows on the driver’s side were shattered. People around the area told CP24 that they had seen the vehicle, a white Range Rover, in the neighbourhood before.
One witness said he heard six shots fired.
The age of the victim is not known.
Toronto police said two black males were seen fleeing the area in a black car. According to police, one suspect was seen wearing a green construction vest and the other was wearing an orange coloured construction vest.
Police said both males are believed to be armed and dangerous.
Officers and homicide detectives are currently on scene, scouring the area for evidence and going over security footage.
The apartment building’s property manager Paul Kotecha sent out an email to residents, saying “a shooting has occurred in the courtyard in the pick up/drop off zone area by Cowbell Lane. The courtyard area has been cordoned off by the police.”
Kotecha also said the east corridor was blocked and it was possible the front entrance could also be closed to residents while officers investigate the scene.
