A workplace accident claimed the life of a man on Wednesday morning after he fell 14 stories while performing roof repairs.

Emergency crews were called to a highrise apartment complex at 5900 Yonge Street at Drewry just before noon.

The unidentified man was part of a group of workers repairing the building's roof.

He reportedly fell from the building's roof, plunging 14 floors. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is not known why the man fell.

Police responded to the scene around noon and launched an investigation.

Investigators from the Coroner's office and the Ministry of Labour are also on the way to the apartment building.
