Windy weather may have contributed to the death of a construction worker killed on the job in Etobicoke on Tuesday, investigators said.

Officials believe a 30-year-old construction worker died when a piece of metal blew off the top of a 35-storey condominium building and struck him on the head.

The man may have survived if he had been wearing a hardhat, but police said it too could have been blown off because of the wind.

Officials are investigating whether negligence was a factor in the death or if the incident was simply a freak accident.

The victim has not yet been identified.

His death was the second in the Toronto area in two days.

Sebastian Kosiba died Monday night after behind run over by his tractor-trailer in the parking lot of a Mississauga trucking yard where he worked.

The 30-year-old Mississauga man was working on the vehicle's brakes when the accident occurred, police said.
