A 70-year-old Toronto man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman found near a west-end community centre.
Xian Xu Liu, 65, was found suffering from significant facial trauma in a park behind the Wallace-Emerson Community Centre, located at 1260 Dufferin St., on Wednesday morning.
Police say Liu was walking through the park when she was approached by a man. They engaged in a conversation for several minutes before the man allegedly assaulted Liu. Police say she then collapsed to the ground.
First responders attempted to resuscitate her, but were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shou Quan Chen faces a second-degree murder charge. He is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.
