Family and friends of a teenager shot dead at a Driftwood basketball court last month gathered at an emotional funeral Monday.

William Junior Appiah, 18, was killed in a brazen daylight shooting while playing basketball in North York on Sept. 16. Police have yet to arrest a suspect.

"I'm speechless, I don't know what to say," Appiah's mother, Monica, said through tears. "I'm crying and weeping every morning."

Friends and family members described the slain teen as a quiet, shy guy who liked to have fun.

Appiah's best friends stood side-by-side in unity in the front row at the funeral wearing T-shirts honouring Appiah.

"It's really hard right now...for everyone in the city of Toronto to go and live life...it's hard," Appiah's brother, Prince, told CTV Toronto.

Police continue to appeal to the public for any more information.

Days after the shooting, police released security camera video and still images of three suspects in the Driftwood shooting.

All three individuals are shown in the video walking separately towards the scene of the shooting on a basketball court at 4400 Jane St. A minute later, the three are seen running from the scene.

If anyone recognizes the suspects, members of the public can call Det. Gary Grinton directly at (416) 808-7415 or by calling Crime Stoppers at (416)-222-TIPS or online at www.222tips.com. People can also text TOR and send a message to CRIMES (274637).
