MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Peel Region police say a teen has been charged with attempted murder after an attempt to stab an officer during a violent struggle.
Police say officers chased a suspect after being called to the Rockwood Mall in Mississauga, Ont., on Monday to investigate a report of a man with a weapon.
Investigators say the suspect produced a sharp, stake-like object and tried several times to stab an officer in the chest. The officer suffered minor injuries.
During the struggle, police say the suspect tried to take an officer's gun.
Andre Ford, 18, of Mississauga, has been charged with attempted murder, disarming a peace officer and several weapons related charges.
He had a court date Tuesday in Brampton.
