The temperature is expected to break the 30 C mark in the Toronto area for the first time this year, according to Environment Canada.

The weather agency issued a special weather statement Friday morning, explaining that a combination of southerly winds and strong sunshine will make it feel like "mid-summer" in most areas.

The statement said that temperatures will reach the upper 20s and low 30s, but with the humidex it may feel as warm as the mid-30s.

The statement said that areas near the lake will still be several degrees cooler.

Temperatures are expected to dip to the mid-teens overnight before rising again on Saturday afternoon.
