NEWMARKET, Ont. - A jury in Newmarket, Ont., has found a man guilty in an altercation that left two people seriously injured after some fishermen were pushed into a lake.

Trevor Middleton, 23, was found guilty today of four counts of aggravated assault and two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Court heard that in September 2007, Middleton and some friends pushed a group of Asian fishermen off a dock into Lake Scugog.

The prank escalated with one of Middleton's group being severely beaten and a high-speed chase that ended in a crash, leaving one of the fishermen with permanent brain damage.

Members of the Asian community plan to hold a news conference Wednesday morning to make recommendations on a sentence.
