GEORGINA, Ont. - A man already charged in alleged assaults on Asian fishermen in the Lake Simcoe town of Georgina now faces charges in another similar incident.

York Regional Police say Scott MacEachern, 19, of Georgina, now faces an additional two counts of assault in relation to a July 22 incident in which a group of fishermen were harassed by a number of suspects.

MacEachern was already charged with two counts of assault for a pair of similar incidents in August in which fishermen were pushed into the water.

The Ontario Human Rights Commission is launching an inquiry into the incidents after a number of Asian groups said the attacks should be considered hate crimes.

Two other suspects, Trevor Middleton, 20, and Nicholas Perry, 19, both of Georgina, already face a number of assault-related charges in relation to a September incident that left a 23-year-old Toronto man seriously injured.
