TORONTO -- Commuters who use GO Transit will find it costs more to get on the GO today.
GO fares vary by distance travelled.
The increase means a 35 cent increase on fares that were between $4.50 and $5.80, 45 cents on fares between $5.81 and $7.35, and 55 cents on fares greater than $7.35.
GO says the increase will help it make improvements such as more parking and more train and bus trips to meet increasing demand.
The increase will be less for customers who use the Presto electronic fare system.
The fare increase was approved at a Metrolinx meeting on Dec. 5, 2012.
