Phase 2 of construction on the Gardiner Expressway is set to begin Aug. 19 following a temporary pause for the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games.
Traffic will be reduced to two lanes eastbound and two lanes westbound between Bathurst Street and Strachan Avenue while work is completed on the roadway.
Throughout the construction, travel times on the Gardiner Expressway will be posted on variable-message signs along the roadway.
The city says it will also implement traffic signal timing changes on nearby routes to enhance traffic flow and work to improve response time to incidents along the Gardiner.
This work is part of City of Toronto’s “Strategic Rehabilitation Program” for the Gardiner Expressway, which is expected to be fully complete by Oct. 19, 2016.
The city recommends considering other travel options during construction, such as carpooling, taking transit, cycling to work, or travelling outside of the usual rush hours.
