A man in his 20s has been arrested following a bank robbery in the Woodbridge neighbourhood of Vaughan.

Police have arrested one suspect and are searching for a second in connection with the incident, officers said in a statement Thursday.

The robbery occurred at a Scotiabank branch located in the area of Islington and Napa Valley Avenues, at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, York Regional Police said.

Two men entered the bank carrying handguns and wearing cloth masks over their faces, police said. They asked employees for cash, and were given a sum of money. They then fled the scene on foot.

One suspect was located in the area of Forest Fountain Drive and Rutherford Road shortly after the incident, police said Thursday.

Javon Walker, 23, of Mississauga was arrested and charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent and possession of a weapon.

Officers are searching for a second suspect, who has been described as a white man between the ages of 20 and 25, who is approximately 5-foot-5. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
