Three teenagers were arrested and charged on Sunday in connection with the death of a man at an indoor mini-putt golf course in Barrie, Ont.
Bradley Hubbard arrived at the glow-in-the-dark mini-golf course on Commerce Park Dr. with his wife and two young children around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night after a family dinner out.
Police would only say that the 42-year-old Collingwood man was involved in an "incident" at the facility shortly after the family arrived. The man was pronounced dead in hospital.
Hubbard's father-in-law, Brian Reid, told CTV News that a group of men who appeared to have been drinking began yelling and smashing golf clubs. The commotion frightened the children, and Hubbard asked them to stop.
"At least he died in his wife's arms," Reid said. "He got to tell her that he loved her before he passed away."
Police said the man was there to play golf and had no prior connection to the suspects. Investigators have not said how the victim died, but some reports have suggested Hubbard was stabbed with a broken golf club.
Approximately 30 witnesses were interviewed on Saturday, police said.
Two 18-year-old males and a 19-year-old man from nearby Innisfil, Ont. were arrested and charged with second-degree murder early Sunday morning. Barrie Police were assisted by South Simcoe Police in the arrests.
A post-mortem has been scheduled for Monday in Toronto to determine the cause of death.
