The Ministry of Labour has been called to investigate after a house under construction in East York collapsed.

Emergency crews were called to the home at 301 Glebemount Ave., near Woodbine and Cosburn Avenues, collapsed at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday.

The second floor of the home had collapsed, destroying part of the first floor as a result. Toronto Fire officials said everyone was able to escape unharmed, but the gas and hydro were shut off at the home as a precaution.

The Ministry of Labour was called to investigate, and a Toronto building inspector also examined the scene.

On Wednesday, the Ministry said workers have been instructed to halt renovations until bracing has been installed. Written precautions will be provided by an engineer to prevent damage to the neighbouring buildings.
