TORONTO - A 23-year-old man is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 73-year-old man in north-end Toronto.

David Fitzpatrick was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly confessing the crime to a priest at a downtown homeless shelter.

A worker at the downtown shelter says after hearing the confession, the priest convinced the suspect to call police.

Police say the victim was found dead at the scene (near Jane and Eglinton) and had been stabbed several times.

Residents of a 23-storey building say the victim lived in the apartment for about 30 years and kept to himself.

The homicide is the city's 22nd of the year.
