Toronto police hope to speak to two males as they investigate Monday's homicide near Oakwood and St. Clair Avenues.

Police were called to Winona Drive and Hursting Avenue at 3:33 p.m. Monday, where they found Mitchell Leton Celise, 17, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was taken to St. Michael's hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Investigators think someone approached Celise from behind and opened fire.

As many as four men and two women were seen fleeing the scene in the 300-block of Winona Drive, a residential neighbourhood, but it isn't known how many of those people might have been involved.

Celise -- known on the street as SK or Skeezie -- was identified Tuesday as the victim of the homicide, Toronto's 14th of the year. While of high-school age, he was considered well-known to west-end police officers.

An autopsy had been scheduled for Tuesday.

Police are looking for two males who they believe were with the victim before the shooting. Investigators want to speak with these individuals as they think they can help identify whoever shot Celise.

Witnesses at the scene told police they saw a male between the ages of 15 and 18, armed with a handgun. He was described as between 5-feet-5 and 5-feet-8 tall with a slim build and a dark black complexion. The suspect was wearing a white tank top and jeans with a white design or lettering on the back pockets when he fled the scene.

On Tuesday, constables intensively searched an area near Roseneath Gardens and Earlesdale Avenue, to the north and west of the shooting scene. They were looking for any dropped or discarded evidence and canvassed from door to door.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Det. Mary Vruna at 416-808-7380 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
